Everything Lights

AUCKLAND PHOTOGRAPHY LIGHTING WORKSHOPS

Your one stop shop for everything lighting related.

Framed in the context of weddings – relevant everywhere else.

Lighting is one of those things as a professional you just need to have in your tool kit, but where do you start?

To us, fully understand lighting means using flash and constant light in any situation, understand how to balance multiple lights with ambient exposure, and how to use them all to get more creative. And sometimes, all it takes is a little pop of light to take an unintersting image to the next level.

On the surface, off camera flash is complicated, but we can show you how to do it tactically and consistently, every time. We’ll show you how to take it from overwhelming, to simple, to understanding exactly what’s happening and how to control the situation.

Who is this for:

  • Beginner, intermediate or pros looking to brush up on their technical flash know-how

  • Photographers, videographes

What you will learn:

  • Lighting a reception, with a head table practical setup.

  • Setting up different combinations from 1 to 4 lights and how to balance them with ambient light.

  • Using on and off-camera flash at the same time to solve the issue of roaming reaction shots with head table shots.

  • Using flash vs. constant light and the options you have.

  • Setting up backlit night shots, easy, every time.

  • Dance floor flash.

  • Using modifiers.

  • Using gels and coloured lights to match the reception white balance.

  • Gear options for flash and constant light.

  • Hands-on time with our lights (we have triggers for any brand)

  • And finally, a focus on studio lighting. Because it all blends together, and it will all make you money.

What do you need to bring:

  • A camera and lens

  • Notepad, pen, pencil if you’re one to take notes (the slides from the session will be circulated)

  • OPTIONAL – your own lighting kit, flash, trigger, etc.
